ISPI - February Chapter Meeting with Guila Muir

Wed Feb 17, 2010 6:00 PM

Present Like a Pro!
Skills to Build Credibility in the Marketplace-
One Person at a Time

Are you an HPT professional who is currently “between jobs?” Does the idea of attending yet

another networking opportunity sit like ice in your stomach? Have you wondered about how to network effectively, without seeming "slick?"

First things first-you are not alone. Many highly skilled professionals are looking for jobs. The question is, how can you differentiate yourself from the pack?

Here’s your invitation to a fun, active session that will shake you out of your winter blues. Guila Muir, a successful entrepreneur in instructional design and training for the last seventeen years, will share research-based findings about effective interviewing and networking from the world of social psychology and science. You’ll practice a new approach to your tired old elevator speech, and learn presentation nuggets that will serve you both in one-to-one situations and in more formal environments.

Come ready to get out of your chair and practice. We’ll create a comfortable, inviting environment for all. You’ll walk out with new confidence and skills!

Guila Muir helps professionals “bust the talking head syndrome.”  She enables speakers to move beyond lecture to design and deliver presentations that satisfy their audience’s immediate needs.  Guila is principal of Guila Muir & Associates, a Seattle-based firm that since 1983 has trained thousands of presenters and trainers on an international level.

As an adjunct professor at Seattle University’ Graduate School of Education, Guila teaches “Course Design for Adult Learners.” She has traveled and studied independently in England and Brazil.

Guila learned to swim as an adult, and is now obsessed. She swims in open water year-round, and has swum from Alcatraz to San Francisco four times.
