Components of Intimate Conversation: Distinguishing what’s appropriate in various settings.

A current best-selling book, “Marketing Rebellion,” is subtitled “The Most Human Company Wins,” “Belonging” is the author’s (Mark Schaefer) key word.

During this session participants will be invited to consider basic skills and distinctions that humans need for any conversation at work and at home. It is my contention that a very small percentage of humans have such skills and knowledge. We will also explore what’s appropriate in conversation at work and in interpersonal relationships and in one’s most intimate connections.

Examples of situations that offer an opportunity for more profound exchange will be enunciated.

Crucial in this workshop will be helping participants distinguish between personal confession and openness, and then considering the gradations in each of these appropriate in different circumstances.

We will highlight and search for work examples where one could be more open than the average person might think.

Also, consequences for pushing the edge or not will be explored.

About Your Instructor

Robert Crosby, the founder of LIOS, is a T-group trainer who has led several hundred such groups. Mentored by an icon- Dr. Ronald Lippitt- he was an OD consultant for a half a century. He was (decades ago) a certified educator with The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). His most popular workshop in the early LIOS years was called, SARB (sex, affection, romance, and bonding) and was always attended by about a hundred persons.

He is the author of seven books including one written with his wife Patricia called “A Month in Medieval, Volpaia, Tuscany”. What shines through in that book is the relationship between Patricia and Robert. His poetry book has several love poems in it. His three business books illustrate the openness that he helped people experience in some major and small firms.

Love and LOVE

Love is a short-lived episode

And then it ends - and dreams explode,

But pain and distance need not be

If LOVE has grown so tenderly

To be whatever it can be

And not to ask for fantasy.
