OD Toolkit Series - Third Party Conflict

Third-party conflict management is a process of facilitation that means you are helping two or more people work through a conflict in which you are not personally involved. It is core to OD as practitioners who have a frame and understanding for how to manage conflicts will help organizations work through tough moments more functionally. Effective third-party work uses a whole system focus to 1) manage the conflict so the tasks become effective, 2) ensure maximum learning from each party in the conflict and how they contributed to the issue, 3) resolve potential systemic issues that created the conflict, and 4) create a plan for how to handle similar situations in the future. Openness to managing conflict tremendously helps organizations improve for all employees.

At the end of the training, participants will:

  • Learn a sequence and structure for resolving conflict between two employees.
  • Understand the core facilitators triangle needed to effectively facilitate conflict and meetings.
  • Learn how to identify subtle blame and help participants take greater ownership of their issues.
  • Know how to leverage systems thinking to ensure the effective sponsorship is in place that allows easier resolution.
  • Increase capacity to recognize and resolve workplace systemic issues that are in part causing the conflict.

This training is limited to 12 participants. Sign up now to ensure your spot!
