What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do: Tapping into The Source Code with Dr. John Scherer

Special ODN Lifetime Achievement Award Presenter -

John will fly to Seattle all the way from Poland!

Participants please bring a pen and paper to write on, thanks!

As a trainer, coach or consultant, what do you do when you don’t know what to do?!

What is available to you beneath the thoughts you have—or even the feelings?

What is your ’source code’ and how can you access it when you need it?

John Scherer says he has needed his ‘source code’ quite a few times in four his decades of ’transforming the world at work’. Come for an evening of discovery—or re-discovery—of YOUR 'source code’ and practice accessing it, making you a bit more effective and at peace in those moments when both seem far away.

Along with other OD Elders, John still has a lot to share. In 1973, at Bob Crosby’s invitation, John left the Lutheran ministry to co-create (with Bob and Ron Short) the LIOS MA-ABS Graduate Program. Now living and operating out of a base in Warsaw, Poland, since 2008, John has been introducing OD—and his brand of Leadership Development—to Eastern Europe.

‘John is one of handful of Masters in the field of transformation alive today, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have him with us.’ —Przemek Gawronski (5th Degree Aikido Master and Partner, Scherer Leadership Center)

John Scherer has been a thought leader in OD since 1968, combining his background as a Gestalt therapist with his natural abilities as a group and large scale change facilitator. His clients have included business executives and their organizations from around the world, including GTE, Boeing, Siemens, van Melle, The Government of Canada, and many others, especially in Central/Eastern Europe where he has been based since 2008. He was co-creator in 1973 of the first truly competency-based graduate program in applied behavioral science (LIOS) and is a pioneer in the movement that shares the name of his 1993 book, Work and the Human Spirit. His 2008 book, Five Questions that Change Everything, has been called ’The best business self-help book ever written.' Based now in Warsaw, Poland, he has published numerous articles in the areas of leadership, change and conflict. In 2012 John was named to Steven Covey’s list of America's Top 100 Personal/Leadership Development Thought Leaders, and in 2016 John was the recipient of ODN’s Lifetime Achievement Award. His 2010 presentation to his Alma Mater, Roanoke College, was selected by NPR for their list of ’The Best 100 Commencement Addresses. Ever.’
