OD Toolkit Series - Nine Principles of Kurt Lewin’s Planned Change

This session is now live via Zoom Meeting!

If you think you know Kurt Lewin, you will be surprised by what Gil Crosby learned while writing his new book!

Join OD Practitioner and author Gilmore Crosby for an exploration of Kurt Lewin’s methods and theories of planned changed. Gilmore has been carefully reviewing Lewin’s material and compiling it for his upcoming book, Planned Change: Why Kurt Lewin's Social Science is What the World Needs Now for Leadership, Business Performance, Change Management & Social Change. Crosby makes the case that Lewin’s methods and theories are still the best blueprint for planning, implementing, and sustaining change, at the micro (individual) and macro (global) level.

The Nine Principles:

  1. Scientific Methods
  2. Training – Action - Research
  3. Group Dynamics
  4. Democratic Principles and Leadership
  5. Group Decision
  6. Change as Three Steps
  7. Field Theory
  8. Social Construction of Reality
  9. Everlasting Change for the Betterment of Humanity

At 60, Crosby’s deep dive into Lewin has sharpened and energized his OD. He’s eager to spread the word.

Gilmore Crosby has practiced Organization Development since 1984. Like his brother PNODN President Chris Crosby, Gilmore followed in the OD footsteps of his father, Robert P Crosby. In the creative and interdisciplinary spirit of Kurt Lewin, Gilmore combines Lewin’s methods with John Wallen’s behavioral science, Edwin Friedman’s systems thinking, and a  plethora of other sources. His third OD book, Planned Change: Why Kurt Lewin's Social Science is What the World Needs Now for Leadership, Business Performance, Change Management & Social Change, will be available soon.
