Lewin on Leadership, Racism, and Change

Gilmore Crosby

This training will be conducted live via Zoom.

Join Gilmore Crosby, author of “Planned Change: Why Kurt Lewin’s Social Science is Still Best Practice for Business Results, Change Management, and Human Progress,” as he explores the application of Lewinian social science to the topics in the workshop title and more. Lewin’s formula, Behavior = f(Personality, Environment), applies to all three topics. Leadership directly impacts performance and morale, racism and any inequality creates tension and confusion at the level of the individual, and change is best accomplished through group dynamics. In other words, the environment is heavily influencing individual behavior in all three topics, and individuals must influence the environment to create the optimal conditions for individual and societal well-being. Lewin’s was a universal social science applicable to all social situations and even to understanding individual psychology. The only restraining force is the underutilization of Lewinian theory, not the theory itself.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Understand Lewin’s leadership model
  2. Understand Lewin’s systemic approach to racism and all forms of inequality
  3. Understand Lewin’s science of change
