OD Toolkit Series - Two sides of the DEI equation: Addressing Individual Bias in Systemic Contexts.

Jo Burkholder

This training will be conducted live via Zoom.

Incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into organizations continues to evolve as we gain new insights into what allows groups to successfully grow diverse and integrated structures. In this workshop we will explore three models for "diversity work" in organizations, the pros and cons of those models for creating meaningful change, and their relationship to research on individual unconscious bias and structural change.

Participants will come away with:

  • An analysis of where their organization(s) currently fit within evolving models of diversity work.
  • A better understanding of barriers they may face based on the model their organization has adopted.
  • A model for the relationship between individual bias and systemic structures.
  • A set of practices they can employ to begin to address the component of individual biases within systemic structures.
