501 Commons helps connect skills based volunteers with consulting opportunities at nonprofits. Our critical mass of work often centers around organizational planning – something nonprofits often have a really hard time doing! We have what we call a cohort program kicking off after the first of the year where we connect folks with organizational development, planning, HR or volunteer management expertise with an organization looking to improve the effectiveness of their volunteer program. Skilled volunteers work in teams of two (with balanced skill sets amongst the pair) to lead the organization through a highly structured assessment and planning process so that the organization can walk away with a road-map to self-improvement.
